Community Snack
**If you choose not to participate, please email me that you will be sending a snack with your child each day.**
The third grade classrooms all have a "Community Snack" in the morning. What this means is that we ask families to send in a healthy snack one time per month (that's only 9 times per year that you have to send in a snack with your child). We have 21 children in our classroom this school year, so please keep that in mind. I am very conscious of serving sizes when passing out the snacks, so if you would do the same as you read the number of servings per container, that would be great.
We'd like the first healthy snack sent to school on or as close to the first day as possible. This will allow each child to enjoy a healthy snack during their morning work time. Since I have a small refrigerator in the classroom, I welcome, and encourage, fruits and vegetables for the children.
Some examples of healthy snacks that children have enjoyed in the past, have been: carrots and dip, yogurts, clementines, apples, grapes (washed), granola bars, fruit cups, etc., etc., etc.
Our district does have a Wellness Policy that we need to enforce. Therefore, snacks of the unhealthy variety will not be allowed (chips, cookies, etc). Thanks for helping your child with this !
